At AWR, we're committed to continuously improving our query mechanism to guarantee our users access to the most comprehensive and insightful data. Our goal is to offer robust tracking capabilities across a wide range of SERP features. With this in mind, we're thrilled to introduce three new types of results to our suite of SERP features tracking options: Related Products, Explore Brands, and Buying Guide.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at each of these SERP features and explain how they can be tracked effectively with AWR.

Related Products

The Related Products feature displays a carousel of similar items from retailers using Google Merchant Center, tailored to the user’s search query. This feature is especially valuable for e-commerce, as it helps users quickly explore additional product options directly on the SERP.

Explore Brands

The Explore Brands feature presents a selection of popular brands offering products related to the user’s search query. Typically appearing for e-commerce keywords, it enhances the shopping experience by showcasing a variety of relevant brand options

Buying Guide

The Buying Guide feature is displayed as a list of expandable questions that provide additional information about the product, such as price, popular brands, or product types, helping consumers make well-informed decisions before making a purchase.

How to Track Related Products, Explore Brands and Buying Guide with Advanced Web Ranking

In Advanced Web Ranking, you can track the appearances of Related Products, Explore Brands and Buying Guides results in SERPs using the Google Universal search engine, both for desktop and mobile search results.

Such a search engine can be added for monitoring from the Project Settings> Search Engines section.

When monitoring a Universal search engine, the positions of Organic entries alongside the URLs from Aggregator Units, Local 3-pack, Featured Snippets, People Also Ask, Images and other types of results will be reported as ranking if found in the SERPs retrieved from Google. More information on Google's search preferences available in AWR can be found in this article here.

How to Identify Related Products, Explore Brands and Buying Guide in AWR

To identify keywords that have triggered the Related Products, Explore Brands, or Buying Guide features and monitor their performance effectively, you can use the SERP Features filter within the Ranking > Keywords report.

Within the filtered results, the SERP Features column shows the types of search results present on Google pages for each keyword, making it easy to identify the presence of Related Products, Explore Brands, Buying Guide, and other SERP Features.

How are Explore Brands, Buying Guides, and Related Products reported in AWR?

Related Products

Since clicking on a product in the Related Products carousel redirects to a new search query, we are unable to capture and save any URL as a ranking position. Therefore, its presence is only visually represented in the Ranking > Keywords and Top Sites reports.

Explore Brands

While on the search results pages, the users can view additional brands by clicking the "More brands/options" button, it's important to know that in Advanced Web Ranking, only the URLs of the websites immediately visible in the list are reported as ranking.

When found in the SERPs retrieved from Google, the websites featured in the Explore Brands list are reported on the same ranking position, as they are part of the same search result element.

Buying Guide

On the search results pages, users can expand the questions to read answers or access additional questions by clicking the "More considerations" button. However, in Advanced Web Ranking, only the URLs of the questions visible on the list are reported as ranking.

When found in the SERPs retrieved from Google, the questions featured in the Explore Brands list will be reported on the same ranking position, as they are part of the same search result element.
