Welcome aboard! Happy to see you around! 👋

If you are new to AWR, we got your back at getting familiar with the entire set of features, so that you can get the most out of using the application!

How to create your first project: Quick walkthrough

So, you’ve just registered for your trial account!

It’s time to enter the wizard and set up your tracking campaign by adding the project’s details:

URL. This will be the main tracked client domain or targeted page. Adding your domain (eg. "website.tld") will instruct the application to report the rankings for any page of the selected domain if found in the SERPs retrieved from the selected search engines.

Country. The country selection impacts the default market for collecting the search metrics from Google Ads (Searches, CPC, and Competition in the Comparison > Search engines report) and predefined search engine selection.

Results page depth. The number of pages downloaded from the search engines, when performing the ranking updates. Depending on your reporting needs, you can select 5 pages for tracking the first 50 search results per keyword or 10 pages for the first 100 results.

Update frequency. AWR can perform both scheduled and manual updates (on-demands), allowing you to choose how often you can see fresh rankings:

  • Daily - data set is refreshed on a 24h basis

  • Weekly - new updates are performed every Monday or Wednesday.

  • Biweekly - fresh data is available twice a month, on Day 1 & 15, or on the first and third Wednesday

  • Monthly - results are ready on Day 1 or the 1st Wednesday of each month

  • Paused - no further scheduled updates will be performed

Note:

  1. Weekly units are used as reference when calculating the number of resources required to update each project

  2. You can select how your Weekly/Biweekly/Monthly ranking updates are to be delivered from your Profile menu > General Settings > Scheduled updates preferences. These settings will apply to all of your scheduled projects using that particular type of frequency.

  3. When choosing paused as the preferred option of updates, the initial update is no longer performed. No rankings are delivered for the newly created project unless manually requested from the Settings > Project Settings section.

Keywords. This is as simple as it seems! Paste or type in - one per row - your client’s targeted set of terms, we’ll do the counting for you!

We'll even try to help you with a few keyword suggestions! 😏 Or, if you already have the keyword set ready, simply Import it. CSV is the supported file format, and both keywords and groups can be uploaded to the project.

Location and search engines. Any search engine/market/location/results type you can think of, we can track it down for you! 👍 There are countless tracking customization facilities, here are just a few:

  • 170+ supported countries (not only in the US and EU)

  • Localized rankings (narrowed by zip code, address, city, or region)

  • Desktop & Mobile devices rankings

  • Organic results

  • Standalone SERP Features such as Featured Snippets, Sitelinks, Top Stories, Video and Images Carousels, etc.

  • Organic SERP Features such as Reviews, FAQs, How-Tos, Q&As, Indented URLs, Image Thumbnails, and AMPs)

  • Sponsored results

  • Dedicated search engines such as Baidu, Yandex, Amazon, Youtube, DuckDuckGo, or Naver.

Don’t know what SERPs are? You can always check our guide.

Note: Keyword rankings are tracked by default on the Google Desktop Universal search engine, but you can add other search engines by clicking on the Add Search Engines button.

Competitors. Don't worry, a little research and market observing never hurt anyone! 😄

You can monitor up to 50 competitors per project without any additionally consumed units.

List the competitor domains or specific URLs or see the ones we can suggest for your main added website.

Done? Click on the Add Project button and wait for your first update.

Note: Depending on how complex the project is (actual number of keywords and search engines selected), the initial ranking update can take up to 24h.

The rankings are not instantly delivered because we are sending real keyword queries to the search engines you have defined. We don't display the ranking positions from databases or from a third-party application.

So, this is it for the project creation. Don’t forget to check our Help Center or the Video tutorials in the Resources section located in the upper right corner of your AWR account.
