What are Aggregator Units?

Aggregator Units are a type of carousel-rich result designed for users in the European Economic Area (EEA). These structured data carousels showcase aggregator sites on topics like travel, places, flights, jobs, and products. Their goal is to enhance the search experience by offering a curated selection of aggregator results directly within the search results.

How do you track Aggregator Units using Advanced Web Ranking?

In Advanced Web Ranking, you can track the “Aggregator Units” appearance in SERPs using the Google Universal search engine, for both desktop and mobile search results.

To track Google Universal in your project, simply add it from the Project Settings> Search Engines section.

When monitoring a Universal search engine, the positions of Organic entries alongside the URLs from Aggregator Units, Local 3-pack, Featured Snippets, People Also Ask, Images, and other types of results will be reported as ranking if found in the SERPs retrieved from Google. More information on Google's search preferences available in AWR can be found in this article here.

How are Aggregator Units reported in AWR?

When found in the SERPs retrieved from Google, websites featured within an Aggregator Units carousel are reported on the same ranking position since they’re part of the same search result element.

How can you identify the keywords that trigger Aggregator Units in AWR?

To identify keywords that have triggered the “Aggregator Units” feature and monitor their performance effectively, you can use the SERP Features filter within the Ranking > Keywords report.

The SERP Features column displays the types of search results present on Google pages for each keyword, helping you quickly identify the presence of “Aggregator Units” and other SERP features.

If the selected website (main or competitor's URL) ranks for a particular SERP Feature, the associated feature symbol is highlighted in green. If the selected website doesn’t secure any of the features present in SERP, all the symbols will remain blue.

On search results pages, users can scroll horizontally through the carousel or click the "More sites" button for additional aggregator sites. However, in Advanced Web Ranking, only the URLs immediately visible in the carousel are tracked and reported as ranking.

How can your website get featured in Aggregator Units?

According to Google, no additional markup is needed for your website to be eligible for Aggregator Units. Instead, you should focus on providing high-quality, relevant content and following solid SEO practices to improve your chances of being featured in these carousels.
