Following this update, three new powerful metrics have been integrated into the Visibility reports, enhancing your ability to measure and analyze your website’s performance on Google’s SERPs. The new metrics are meant to offer deeper insights into the:
search demand for the set of monitored keywords.
number of visits that your website is estimated to receive across different locations within the target country.
overall percentage of clicks your website may receive from organic search, based on the entire set of keywords not just the ones ranking in a top 20 position.
1. Search Demand
The Search Demand metric provides insights into the total search volume within the last 30 days for the chosen keyword set, sourced from Keyword Planner, and tailored to the selected search engine country. This metric is particularly useful for estimating the maximum traffic potential generated by a given set of keywords, empowering you to make data-driven decisions for your SEO strategy.
Where to find the Search Demand metric
The Search Demand metric has been incorporated into the following Visibility reports:
Visibility > Websites report: Available as a table metric, it showcases the total search volume attributed to each website for the selected keyword set and search engine/all search engines.
Visibility > Search Engines report: Available in both KPI format and as a table metric. The KPI displays the total search volume the selected website has for the chosen keyword set across all the search engines applied to the table. The table metric provides a breakdown of Search Demand across each search engine for the selected keyword set and website.
Visibility > Keyword Groups report: Available in both KPI format and as an additional table column. In the KPI tab is displayed the total search volume for the chosen website across the selected search engine and all keywords within each group applied to the table. Conversely, the table column displays the total search volume breakdown by keyword group across the chosen search engine.
2. Local Estimated Visits
As its name suggests, the Local Estimated Visits metric shows the approximate number of visits a website is expected to receive within a month based on its keywords ranking locally within the top 20 positions. This estimation is based on the keywords’ search volume specific to the custom location selected at the search engine level, as well as their related Click Share scores. By providing insights tailored to specific geographic areas, this metric equips local businesses with valuable information to enhance their online presence and optimize visibility effectively.
💡 The Local Estimated Visits metric is computed only if custom location search engines are added to the project.
Where to find the Local Estimated Visits metric
Visibility > Websites report: Available as a table metric, it displays the total estimated visits each website may receive from its top 20 rankings in the selected keyword set, specifically computed for the custom location search engine selected.
Visibility > Search Engines: Accessible in KPI format and table metric. In KPI format, it shows the total estimated visits the selected website may receive from its top 20 rankings in the chosen keyword set. The aggregated value is computed from the Local Estimated Visits of all custom location search engines applied to the table. In the table, the Local Estimated Visits breakdown is provided, showcasing the estimated visits attributed to each custom location search engine.
Visibility > Keyword Groups: Available both as KPI and as an additional table column. In the KPI format, it presents the average number of estimated visits the selected website may receive from its top 20 rankings in each keyword group. The average is computed from the Local Estimated Visits each keyword group applied to the table has across the selected custom location search engine. In the table column format, the Local Estimated Visits for each keyword group are displayed, providing a breakdown of estimated visits attributed to each group across the selected custom location search engine.
💡 The Local Search Volume, which serves as the basis for computing the Local Estimated Visits, is accessible starting with the Pro monthly plan and all yearly subscriptions, including Starter. However, Trial plans do not include this feature.
3. Total Click Share
The Total Click Share metric represents the estimated percentage of clicks a website could receive from organic search, based on the entire set of keywords included in the selected set, offering a holistic view of the click share performance.
Unlike the already available Click Share metric that focuses only on keywords ranking in the top 20 positions, this metric provides a more accurate representation of the overall percentage of clicks across the entire keyword set selected.
To illustrate let's delve into how both the Click Share and Total Click Share are being computed for a given set of keywords and one search engine:
Click Share formula:
kwd 1 + kwd 2 + kwd 3 + ....+ kwd "n" / nr, where “nr" = no. of keywords in the given set that rank on a top 20 position
.
Total Click Share formula:
kwd 1 + kwd 2 + kwd 3 + ....+ kwd "n" / nr, where “nr" = total no. of keywords in the given set
.
For each keyword ranking on a 1 to 20 position an estimated Click Share percentage is assigned as described in this article here. For keywords out of the Top 20, the estimated Click Share is 0.
💡 Depending on the Click Share preference selected in the General Settings > Reporting Preferences section, the Click Share score can be calculated as an average for the top 20 URLs or weighted based on the SERP Features appearance on Google.
Where to find the Total ClicK Share
Visibility > Websites report: Available as a table metric, it displays the Total Click Share each website applied to the table has across the selected keyword set and search engine(s).
Visibility > Search Engines report: Accessible as both a KPI and table metric, the Total Click Share metric offers insights into the performance of the chosen website across the selected keyword set. The KPI presents the average Total Click Share, calculated from the Total Click Share values of each search engine applied to the table. Meanwhile, the table metric provides a breakdown of the Total Click Share across each search engine for the selected keyword set and website.
Visibility > Keyword Groups report: Accessible in both KPI and as an additional table column, the Total Click Share metric provides insights into the performance of the selected website. The KPI displays the average derived from all Total Click Share values of the keyword groups applied to the table across the selected search engine. Conversely, the table column presents the Total Click Share for each group across the selected search engine.
